Physical Therapy
Physical therapists and physical therapy assistants are health care professionals who maintain, restore, and improve movement that is crucial to one's ability to earn a living, pursue favorite leisure activities and enjoy an overall quality of life.
Physical therapists evaluate, diagnose and manage individuals of all ages who have impairments and activity limitations that can occur from disabilities and changes in physical function resulting from injury, disease or other causes.
Physical therapists at HCHS are available to the public through clinic outpatient visits, in-home treatment through Community Health, and inpatients at Hancock County Memorial Hospital. Daily (Monday - Friday) inpatient care meetings are held to assistant the health care team in providing the highest quality of care to patients by utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.
In addition, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants are involved in promoting health, wellness, and fitness through:
- Risk factor identification and implementation of services to reduce risk;
- Slowing the progression of, or prevent, functional decline and disability, and
- Applying evidence to provide efficient and effective care.
