Pain Management

While pain comes in many different forms and can affect everyone differently, it can generally be put into two larger category types.  Acute pain can develop suddenly, generally as the result of an injury.  Chronic pain is longer lasting and can be more difficult to diagnose, often the result of a disease or an injury that hasn't healed properly.  All types of pain, however, can be debilitating to one's quality of life and result in a loss of independence if not treated properly.  The inability to complete daily activities can sometimes result in depression and anxiety over frustrations with constant pain.

Many times chronic pain conditions develop over many years and are difficult to manage.  The goal of Pain Management at Hansen Family Hospital is to help patients maintain functional ability while also minimizing or eliminating the pain our patients feel.  Our team will develop an individualized pain management plan and set personal goals based on your medical history and treatment records while providing quality care in a comfortable, friendly environment.Rich Jacobson, Pain Management Specialist

Pain Management at Hansen Family Hospital provides treatment for nerve pain; myofascial pain; bone pain; and sympathetic pain, assisting with a variety of conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Arthritis
  • Failed back surgery syndrome
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Sciatica and pseudo-sciatica
  • Radiculopathy
  • Shoulder, Knee, and Hip Joint pain
  • "Shingles" (acute and postherpetic neuralgia)
  • Peripheral neuropathies
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Occipital neuralgia
  • Pain associated with osteoporosis

Pain Management Services are available weekly in Iowa Falls. 

Referrals are accepted from family care providers, as well as from chiropractors, physical therapists, surgeons, or other health care providers for a wide variety of acute and chronic pain conditions.
